As part of the development of the Flood Relief Scheme, the public will be invited to participate in consultation events with the project team, as well as having access to Scheme documents and updates through this website.
The public are encouraged to participate in Public Consultation events which will be held at various stages throughout the project and to submit any information relevant to flooding in the area to the project team.
Initial public consultation will be via an online consultation portal (https://countydonegalfrs.ie/downingsfrs/index.php/opening-public-consultation) and postal information drops commencing on 9th November 2020 and remaining open for the following six weeks. A Public Consultation Event will be held once a preferred scheme has been identified and agreed with the steering group.

Stage I Opening Public Consultation
An initial, Opening Public Consultation was held between the 9th November 2020 and 23rd December 2020. For any further correspondence, please contact the team using the email provided.
Stage I Closing Public Consultation
A Public Information Day on the Preferred Option for Na Dúnaibh Flood Relief Scheme will take place on 11th May 2023 in Mevagh Family Resource Centre, Downings. The drop – in event will run from 4pm until 8pm.
Members of the project team (from Donegal County Council, the Office of Public Works and consultants, RPS) will be available to present the Preferred Option and to let people know how their submissions made during the first Public Consultation have been considered. This will be an opportunity for the public to view the option before it goes to the statutory planning process. Attendees can discuss the option with the project team and provide feedback. Anyone with an interest in the Flood Relief Scheme is encouraged to come along anytime between 4pm and 8pm, this is a drop in event, no appointment is necessary.
